These terms govern your use of the SafeFood iPhone app and this website, both operated by 14Past3 d.o.o.. By using SafeFood you accept them.

1. What SafeFood is

SafeFood is a label-reading assistant. It photographs the ingredient list printed on packaged food, transcribes the text, and reports which gluten- or lactose-containing ingredients appear in that text. SafeFood does not test, measure or analyse food. It does not diagnose, monitor, prevent or treat any condition, and it gives no personalised medical or dietary advice. It is not a medical device.

2. What SafeFood cannot do — read this part

SafeFood reads the words printed on a label. Its scope is limited to that text. It cannot:

• detect cross-contact, or anything that happened in a factory or a kitchen;
• tell you whether a "may contain" warning turned out to be true — it quotes such warnings exactly as printed and never grades them;
• measure any amount of gluten or lactose, or verify a claim on the pack;
• know about a recipe change made after the pack in your hand was printed;
• know anything that is not printed on the part of the label you photographed.

An AI reads the photograph, and it can misread. That is why the app always shows you the transcription, the ingredient it matched and the rule that fired: so you can check its work against the pack. Always check the packaging yourself. SafeFood is a second pair of eyes, not a substitute for reading the label.

3. Not medical advice

SafeFood gives no medical or dietary advice, does not diagnose or monitor any condition, and is not a medical device. It does not personalise its results: the same reading rules apply to everyone. Results can vary with the photographs and AI transcription. Decisions about your diet belong to you and your doctor or dietitian.

4. Your responsibilities

• You must be 18 or older to use the SafeFood app and reading service. Complete the age check truthfully. Access is not offered to anyone under 18, including with a parent's permission. Do not let a child use your access.
• Photograph the actual ingredient list, in focus, in reasonable light.
• Check the reading against the pack before you rely on it.
• Do not use the app in a way that interferes with the service, and do not try to access our API other than through the app.

5. Subscriptions and payment

SafeFood is free to use for 10 scans per month. SafeFood Pro raises that to 150 scans per month with no daily limit.

• The euro prices are €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year. Prices and currency may vary by App Store region; the app and Apple's confirmation sheet show the price that applies to your purchase.
• A one month free introductory trial may be available to eligible subscribers. Apple determines eligibility; an offer is not available to every customer or at every time. When offered, the app shows its terms and the price after it ends. Without an applicable trial, payment starts on purchase.
• Apple processes the payment, from the Apple ID you use in the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial or billing period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation, or when an applicable free trial ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account subscription settings.
• Cancelling stops the next renewal. Paid access normally continues until the paid period ends; access to a free trial may end when you cancel it.
• Refund requests for App Store purchases go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Apple handles notification of subscription price changes and requests consent where its rules or applicable law require it.
• The app is licensed under Apple's Standard EULA. These terms also govern the SafeFood reading service.

Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer in the EU, including your right of withdrawal for digital services where it applies.

6. Availability

Scanning is offered only in the AI service's supported countries and regions. Availability depends on where you connect, including while travelling, rather than only your App Store country. We check the country inferred from your connection's IP address before a reading. A blocked request does not use a scan. Do not bypass regional access restrictions. A subscription does not override these limits; check availability before subscribing or travelling. Manage or cancel an existing subscription in your Apple Account settings.

SafeFood depends on your internet connection and on a third-party AI service. It may be unavailable, slow, or unable to read a particular photograph. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features. Failed service requests do not count against your monthly allowance. Readings that cannot assess either finding normally do not count either; reasonable abuse-prevention limits apply. Allowances reset by calendar month, not on your subscription billing date, and unused scans do not roll over.

7. Liability

We provide SafeFood carefully and honestly, and this section says what we are and are not responsible for. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — in particular liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection or product liability law.

Subject to that: SafeFood is an aid to reading a label, and you accept that a reading can be wrong or incomplete for the reasons in section 2. We are not liable for decisions you make about what to eat, and our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

8. Intellectual property

The app, this website, their design and their text belong to 14Past3 d.o.o.. The photographs you take are yours; you grant us only the permission needed to send them for reading and return the result to you.

9. Ending the agreement

You may stop using SafeFood at any time by deleting the app. Deleting it does not cancel a subscription; cancel separately in your Apple Account settings. We may suspend access where use is unlawful or abusive, or where it threatens the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and for material changes we will provide notice and obtain acceptance where required by law. The updated date identifies the current version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Slovenia, and the courts of Slovenia have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of your own country's mandatory consumer law and may bring proceedings there.
